Father Aurel Lalonde passed away on May15th in Montreal. He was 88 years of age. He was preceded in death by his brother Rémi who passed away in February 2020 in Edmonton.
Father Aurel was born in Zenon Park, Saskatchewan. He studied at the St. Boniface Major Seminary. He was parochial administrator of Christ the King (1968- 1973) and of St. Rita and Whitemouth (1977-1989). He was also a social worker and worked for the St.
James- Assiniboia School Division for several years. He moved to Québec in 1989 after his retirement.
Most Reverend Albert LeGatt, Archbishop of St. Boniface, wishes to offer his condolences and the assurance of his prayers to Father Aurel’s family.
We are all invited to pray for Fr. Aurel’s soul as well as for his loved ones.
May he rest in peace.
Given the current pandemic, details of the funeral will
be announced later.
Father Aurel was a member of the Association of the Three Masses. Diocesan priests will kindly celebrate the usual three masses for the repose of his soul.
