Mass & Anointing of the Sick

First Friday of each Month10:00am

We yearn for peace. We yearn for wholeness. But sometimes it is hard to find. So we turn to God for grace and healing.

The Anointing of the Sick is a great sacrament in which the physical signs of the laying on of hands and anointing with sacred oil reveal to us the invisible reality of God’s love and strength poured out upon us.

The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick manifests the Lord’s deep love for his sheep who are struggling emotionally or physically with the reality of daily hurts and aches.

Who needs God’s healing?

Just about every adult does. Some of us have cancers or other life-threatening illnesses. Some of us live with diabetes or hypertension. Some of us have addictions. Some of us suffer from depression, stress, anxiety, or other emotional distress. Some of us are suffering in broken relationships with spouses or family. If you need peace, then you need God’s healing touch.

Anointing of the Sick is meant to help us in our struggle for peace and courage when we are feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges. It is another graced way in which our God reveals His love and support for His precious children.

Never been anointed or seen the anointing of the sick?

You process with everyone else as though for communion. The priest lays his hands on your head while praying in silence. Then he anoints you with consecrated oil on your forehead and then on the palms of the hands. Meanwhile, he says:

“Through this holy anointing may the Lord in his love and mercy help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit.”  (Amen)
“May the Lord who frees you from sin save you and raise you up.”  (Amen)

So if you need some stillness, healing and peace, then plan on joining us for some quiet time of sacred scripture, sacred song and peaceful prayer.
